Started in 1966 on a landscape gardener apprenticeship in Munich, studied landscape architecture at the TU Berlin and the Ecole Nationale Supérieure du Paysage in Versailles (F). After years of practice in Berlin planning offices, he has been working as an independent landscape architect in Berlin since 2001. Visiting professor at the Istituto Mediterraneo del Design (IMED) in Catanzaro (I) (2001-2003) and the University of Kassel (2009-2011). Chairman of the DGGL Berlin-Brandenburg and vice chairman of the bdla Berlin/Brandenburg (2016-2022). 2017 to 2019 head of the DGGL project «Network Garden & People». Since January 2019, managing director of the Green City Foundation in Berlin (Stiftung Die Grüne Stadt).
Since February 2020 also managing director of the «Initiative Historic Gardens in Climate change (IHGIK)».
