Jens Spanjer

Jens Spanjer is a Landscape Architect and the Managing director of the Stiftung Schloss Dyck.

Jens Spanjer, listed as landscape architect (Chamber of Architects Northrhine-Westphalia) has a degree in «Landespflege». Further qualification for managing European projects derives from studying at the “European Institute for Postgraduate Education at the University of Dresden” with «Master of Advanced Studies in Regional Management».

After two years working in a landscape architect’s office, Jens Spanjer worked three years as project and financial manager of the regional development project «Allergiezentrum Bad Lippspringe» which was part of the World Exhibition 2000 / EXPO Hannover network, with a focus on the restoration and enhancement of the historic spa park.

Since 2001 Jens Spanjer holds the position of the Geschäftsführer (managing director) of the Stiftung Schloss Dyck (Schloss Dyck Foundation) and since 2009 he is the managing board of the foundation. In this position he is responsible for the financial management of the restoration of Schloss Dyck and its historic and new gardens, for the management of the «Zentrum für Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur (Centre for Garden Arts and Cultural Landsacpes)» as an interdisciplinary institute including partners and supporters from various sectors.

Jens Spanjer was elected president of the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gartenkunst und Landschaftskultur e.V. DGGL” (German Society for Garden Design and Cultural Landscapes) founded in 1887, with more than 2000 members in 17 autonomous federal state associations from 2014 until 2020, when a new president had to be elected according to the statutes.

Since 2015 Jens Spanjer is member of the board of the “Verein Schlösser und Gärten in Deutschland” (Association Castles and Gardens in Germany), and since 2019 he is one of the two speakers of Initiativbündnis Historische Gärten im Klimawandel, an alliance for historic gardens in climate change. In 2020 he became chairman of the Stiftung Die Grüne Stadt (Foundation for the Green City)

Schloss Dyck Foundation is the lead partner and managing body for the European Garden Heritage Network EGHN and its activities and projects.
